We are called to be the salt and light of the world, which is a tall and intimidating order. However, when we stop to think about it, to add salt to a main course is to bring out the flavor that is already there, and to be a light is to illuminate something hidden by darkness. In this way, to be salt and light is to draw attention to Jesus with our words, actions, and lives.
