Chess has been our teaching minister since 2018. A native Texan, Chess earned B.A., M.Div., and M.A. degrees in New Testament from Abilene Christian University. He is passionate about God and his family and deeply desires to help others fall in love with God so that they may imitate the life and love of Christ. Chess loves to read, learn, and have deeper conversations about God. He also enjoys Formula One racing, playing golf, working on and rebuilding cars, and translating and studying dead languages.
Oscar Gómez ha estado sirviendo a la Iglesia de Cristo de Arlington como ministro de habla hispana durante treinta años. Nació en El Salvador y ha sido cristiano por 45 años. Junto con la predicación los domingos por la mañana, Oscar imparte varias clases a la semana, asesora a miembros de la iglesia, realiza bodas, asiste a otras congregaciones y organiza reuniones mensuales de predicadores en el área. A Oscar y a su esposa les gusta compartir comidas con miembros de la congregación para alentarlos a que se acerquen más. Oscar también disfruta asistir a las conferencias iberoamericanas cada año, así como tomar vacaciones anuales con su familia y compartir comidas con su esposa, hijos y sus nietos.
Lance grew up going to churches from the Anglican tradition, but was introduced to the churches of Christ by his wife while he was a cadet at the US Air Force Academy. Since he was baptized in 1994 he has been an active member of the church of Christ at congregations in New Mexico, Illinois, Tennessee and Virginia. He and his wife Carrie have four boys, who live in New Mexico and Tennessee currently, and Carrie is also currently in Tennessee where she is working and serving temporarily as the Preschool Director for the Stepping Stones Christian Preschool, a ministry of the Highland Hills church of Christ.
Lloyd was born in Kentucky, pursued his education there and in Tennessee, New York, England, and Massachusetts. Lloyd is a retired lawyer who devotes his time to church as well as music, performing in a symphonic chorus. An Elder since 2002, he is elder liaison for the congregation’s buildings and finances. Lloyd facilitates a small group discussing books about theology, church history and discipleship. He periodically teaches adult Bible classes. Claudia is retired from the defense industry and now uses her talents in maintaining and improving the technology that supports all of Arlington’s ministries. This congregation helped to raise Lloyd’s and Claudia’s three children. Their life-long experiences in churches of Christ inform our congregation’s passion for unity in Christ as our polar star.
