As preaching minister at Arlington, my weekly message is often months in the making. Usually God has been teaching me something in my personal life and I simply put that lesson on paper and invite people to join me on a spiritual journey. I take the ideas that God has given me and do my best to explain Christian truth in a way that is understandable, upbeat, and relevant. My foundation and principles come from only the Bible. In preparing my message, I ask myself some simple questions: Will this encourage the young professional in the back corner, who just worked a 70 hour week, to give Jesus a chance in his life? Will our occasional “drop-in” visitor feel it was worth their time to brave the beltway traffic or metro commute; will they hear God talking to them today? Will this challenge busy parents with hectic schedules to put God first in every area of their life? If the answer to any of these questions is “No”, I start again. My goal is to bring ancient words to contemporary listeners.
There is an excitement here for the future of Arlington Church of Christ. With opportunities to worship God, connect with others, grow in an understanding of the Bible, serving and sharing with others, you can have a special place in this community of people. You will find love, acceptance, and encouragement to mature in the Lord. Whether you are a seasoned churchgoer or a first-timer, you will find a friendly atmosphere among this church family. Come join us!
Born in western Colorado, I was raised a Catholic. A new girl came to our town and invited me to her church and my life has never been the same. I was baptized my senior year of high school; after a tour in the Coast Guard I merely wanted to study God’s word. I married the “new girl”, went from honeymoon to seminary and raised our family of three in Colorado. After serving churches in Texas, Colorado, Iowa and Washington State in the areas of youth, young families, education, and preaching, in August 2006, I began my ministry with the wonderful family of Christians at Arlington.
